Canada’s first web festival will celebrate their inaugural event from May 2nd to 4th, 2014 -Imperial Vancouver, 319 Main St Vancouver BC. The Vancouver Web Fest (VWF) celebrates the progressive evolution of entertainment and programming created exclusively for the Internet. This uniquely diverse festival is the first of its kind in Canada. VWF will bring together International and Canadian web series creators, producers and viewers through an engaged and responsive forum that acknowledges the cultural significance of this revolutionary genre.

The three-day festival will host a pre-launch party, screenings of web series, pitch sessions, facilitate panels featuring industry experts and conclude with an awards ceremony and celebration. This unique festival will create an experience that brings people together to discover extraordinary web series and content from around the world. VWF will form a welcoming environment that encourages an exploration into new formats of storytelling and act as a forerunner in the web series industry. VWF has partnered with Marseille Web Fest, Melbourne Web Fest, Hollyweb and Roma Web Fest.

VWF has gathered top local professionals in the entertainment industry as part of their judge’s panel including Walter Daroshin (Troika Pictures, Leo Awards), Paul Armstrong (Crazy 8s, Celluloid Social Club, etc.) and Marina Darling (actress and philanthropist). We shall be announcing more film industry professionals in the coming weeks.

Additionally, VWF is pleased announce Dailymotion has come on board as a sponsor. As one of the leading sites for sharing videos, Dailymotion attracts over 112 million unique monthly visitors and 2.5 billion videos views worldwide.

ABOUT VWF’S FOUNDER: Suzette Laqua is an Entrepreneur, Executive Producer, Producer and Writer of TV, Web Series and Short Films. She is a graduate of Simon Fraser University and has had a number of successful businesses. By bringing Vancouver and Canada a Festival that honours web series from around the world, Suzette is aspiring to create an awareness that will be beneficial for web series creators and their teams and will help the web series evolve forward as an entertainment medium unto itself.
